Easter Nails

Hey guys! I hope everyone had a fabulous Easter. Mine was fairly uneventful. Church, breakfast, brunch. My fiance and I actually didn't eat at the brunch as we were still full from breakfast. We did however....um....drink. Hey, it's a holiday right? Anywho....here's my nails from yesterday as well as a few others I found in on my computer that I don't think I've shared yet. Enjoy!

I love this color! It does go on sheer and kind of streaky though. But that doesn't stop me from loving it!

Well since my Easter mani is starting to chip, I better go figure out what color I want to wear next!

Today I....

Went tanning.

Went grocery shopping for (mostly) healthy food.

Did laundry. Lots of laundry.

Watched some HP

Tried to decide which bright color to paint my nails to match the spring-like temps outside.

Worked out.

Cleaned my rings. The one on the left was a Valentine's present from the fiance. 

Ate steak. If you know me, this is a big deal. I NEVER eat steak. Like ever. This was from Applebee's and was part of the Under 550 Calories menu. And it was delicious!

Decided which color to paint my nails. Essie "Mint Candy Apple"

Now I'm watching my favorite show. This is a British one that's on BBC...not the awful American one on the History channel. Just so you know.

And I'm thinking about dessert. Possibly some vanilla ice cream with raspberries and blueberries? Yes. I think so.

New hair color & Incoco nails

Ok, so after doing nothing all day I figured I should do something with myself. So I colored my hair. Nothing drastic. Just a touch up for my grays. Seriously. I'm 27. I've really been wanting a chocolate brown color so when I was looking for color I looked for anything with "chocolate" in the name. I ended up finding this:

I think I've tried this brand before. I like that it doesn't contain Ammonia. I hate that stuff, it burns my eyes and obviously if it does that, it can't be good for my hair. And it only takes 10 minutes. Love that. I actually kept it on for 15, I always do about 5 minutes more than the recommended time. After rinsing out the color and using the conditioner in the box (which smells really good by the way) my hair came out feeling soft and well.....healthy looking.

My only complaint is that whenever I use a dark brown hair color, I feel like it always ends up looking black. This has happened with every brand I've tried. Should I start using a lighter brown? Or should I just give in and go to and actual hairdresser to get my color done? Opinions are welcome!

Before blow drying my newly colored hair, I decided to use my favorite face mask:

I love this stuff! I got it earlier this year after hearing all about it on youtube and blogs. It's even better because it's cheap and you can buy it at your local drugstore (I believe I got mine at Ulta though). It really works too. Here's your obligatory face mask shot:

HOT.

I also decided I try the Incoco nail strips I got in last month's Birchbox. They're basically the same thing as the Sally Hansen ones. The first strip didn't go on so well I was thinking it was going to be a complete fail but they actually ended up looking nice. I did have to "patch" up some areas with leftover strips. I didn't have to do that last time I tried the SH ones. They also seemed to tear easier than the SH ones. Maybe it's just me but heads up anyway. 

I really like the way they turned out. The design is kind of subtle, but it would be great for a night out. I might have to purchase this print or look for others!

Nails of the Day

Just popping in with a quick Nails of the Day for you. I just received (like, literally just yesterday) two of the new Orly polishes from their Birds of a Feather collection. These were really the only 2 I liked out of the collection. All of the others seemed like something I already owned or just weren't interested in. Here's the first one I've tried so far.

 

I wasn't sure how this one would look on me to be honest. But I figured I'd give it a try because I didn't have any other color like it. It's like an amped up neutral. This is two coats and I'm really happy with it.

 


The other color I got and am really excited about is this:

This color has been pretty hyped up, especially as being a dupe for an OPI shade (I can't remember the name, but I believe it was a holiday one...help?) but I don't have it to compare. I'm really excited to try this one out because it just looks so cool in the bottle. Pics will follow soon!

Outfit of the Night + Nails of the Night

Whew! What a weekend! Saturday night I watched one of my best and oldest friends get married. She looked GORGEOUS! I so wished I would have gotten a picture of her dress. In fact, I didn't get any pictures at all. I was too busy havin' fun y'all. Open bar at the reception + friends I haven't seen in forever + the DJ playing all of our favorites, new & old ("Bye, Bye, Bye" might have been played) = best night in a long time! The weather was perfect too - sunny with a slight breeze and a crisp cool evening to top it off. The reception was at the Marriott and it was beautifully decorated and the food was delicious. I definitely got some ideas for my own wedding. For one, the bridal party had the best entrances I've ever seen! They were having a contest to see who could have the best entrance; just to name a few: the girl walks in with the guys jacket and proceeds to the dance floor where she waves it like bull fighter and the guy comes running out at it. Another funny one was the girl walking out to the dance floor and pretending to fish and the guy jumping like he's been caught. The others were little dance routines and when the bride and groom came out the bridal party lined up and made a tunnel with their arms which the new Mr. & Mrs. (Doctor!) ran through. It was a super fun night and it reminded me that I really need to see my friends more often.
Then on Sunday, we went to Olive Garden with the family to celebrate my great uncle's 93rd birthday! It was great to see everyone and had me hoping that I make it to that age someday and that I'm still in good health to enjoy it all!

OK so the shoes pictured here aren't actually the ones I wore. For reference though, they are by Guess and I bought them at TJ Maxx.

I wore these shoes to the wedding but actually changed into ANOTHER pair for the reception because these are 1/2 a size too big and kept slipping of my feet. 

I do love these though. These are by Candie's from Kohl's. Yes they are VERY glittery. Love them.

The shoes I wore to the reception were by RSVP and they are a champagne color platform peeptoe with clear "jewels" around the toe. I'll have to come back and insert a picture here later....

My manicure is Essie's "Carry On'' from the fall collection. I just picked this up Friday and I love it. I have a feeling I'll be wearing it a lot this season. It's a very dark burgundy-plum color that almost looks black.

I can't believe October is just around the corner! I personally can't wait.  My favorite month of the year!

Nails of the Day: Army Chic

Hey everyone! Sorry for the sporadic posts but I've been working weird hours and I've been getting back to my running routine. My dad and I are running in a race Thanksgiving morning. It's called the Turkey Trot (cute right?) and it's 5 miles (eek!) so I'm a little nervous since I haven't ran that far since high school. But since it's my first race since then I'm also just concentrating on finishing and not necessarily my time. Anyway.....here's my nails from yesterday. I forgot to take a picture, but on my ring finger I put one coat of
China Glaze "It's Alive" from their new Halloween collection. So just picture this mani with that on top. Trust me, it looked cool.
