The Daily Show

Hey everyone!
I thought I would share with you my everyday products that I use on my hair & face. I don't know if it's even all that interesting to you but I thought it might be a fun thing to do. I always like watching videos (or reading on someone's blog) about the products that people use. I always like to see what other people use and what their opinion is on a certain product that maybe I've wanted to try but didn't want to waste my time. So maybe you'll find something here that you want to try or if nothing else be entertained for the next few minutes. Or seconds if you're a speed reader ;)

First up are the products I use for my hair:

Herbal Essences Hydralicious Shampoo & Conditioner:
I'm almost out of these bottles but I really liked this formula. It's very rich and creamy but didn't weigh my hair down. I never buy the same shampoo & conditioner twice. So once this runs out I'll either try another formula or go to another brand like Pantene or Suave.
***Update:
I went to Target the other day in search of a new shampoo & conditioner. I ended up getting the Suave Humectant shampoo and conditioner for dry hair. So far - love it! I got the HUGE bottles so I wont have to stock up for awhile.

Pantene Detangler for Medium to Thick hair:
I really like this stuff. I need to get some more. It works really great at get all the tangles out of my hair. Plus it smells pretty good too which is always a plus.
Herbal Essences Body Envy Mousse:
I use this when I want really full fabulous hair. I really only need to use this during the winter when my hair tends to fall flat. Trust me, I need no help with volume in the summer! This smells amazing as well and the price can't be beat!
Garnier Fructis Style Sleek & Shine Anti Humidity Smoothing Milk:
Whew! That's a long name! I think this is my third or fourth bottle of this product. So clearly it's awesome. It makes my hair so soft and shiny and smooth. I use this mainly in the summer and I have to say it holds up to the humidity pretty well. Once again, the price is great for the result.
Pantene Hairspray for Medium to Thick Hair:
I just recently started using hairspray everyday. I use the aerosol which always makes me feel like I'm on Jersey Shore. But I like it and it makes my hair big and pretty

Now for face & make-up:
I've been using this on and off that last 3 years. If I use each product twice a day, everyday it works great. You can definitely tell if you skip a day. I've only stopped using it in the past because I was getting bored and wanted to try all the new and exciting skin products on the market. But I keep coming back to this because it works.

Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse Foundation:
This is another product I've been using for years. It makes my skin look perfect. Most of the time I don't even need concealer. It's that good! Plus I never get shiny face half way through the day.
***Update:
I went ahead a picked up Maybelline's newest line of makeup called "Fit Me". I only got the foundation (they were out of the concealer and powder in my shade) and I used it last night just to try it out. I really like it. It goes on smooth and the color really blends in with my skin. I think it's the perfect shade - I got "Buff Beige".  I plan on getting the powder, concealer and blush whenever they're back in stock.

Maybelline Dream Mousse Concealer & Bronzer:
I love both of these. The concealer blends perfectly. Although once mine is out I'm not going to buy another because as long as I'm using the mousse foundation, I don't really need the concealer and if I do, I can just use the foundation itself as one and that way it matches perfectly! The bronzer works great too. Since it's a mousse and not a powder it blends into my skin and never looks fake. It gives me a nice sun kissed glow. Who doesn't like that?
Maybelline Expert Wear Blush:
I really love this blush! I bought it in "Gentle Rose". It's the perfect natural color. I need to get another one though, because I only had mine for about a week when I dropped it and the whole thing shattered. I was able to use it for a few days after but it just got to be too messy. Fail. But I highly recommend this blush.
***Update:
I got a new Maybelline blush to replace my broken one. Target was sold out of most of the colors so I didn't get the same color. I ended up getting "Precious Pink". It's a nice coral shade but isn't too orange. It gives me a nice winter glow.

I love these eye shadows. They're under $5 and so pigmented and soft in texture. They're kind of hard to find though. I get mine at Ulta. I highly recommend these!

Maybelline Eye Studio Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner:
I've always wanted to try a gel eyeliner but the ones from MAC were too expensive for my taste. Then Maybelline introduced these last year and I jumped on it right away. They're less than $10 I believe and work great! I only have the black for now but I keep meaning to get the other colors. I mainly use it on my waterline (the inside lower lash line) but the few times I've used it on my lid it looks great. I can finally do the Lauren Conrad eye look!

L'Oreal Extra Volume Collagen Mascara:
Love this! It's so dark and makes my lashes look full and long. It is starting to clump on my lashes but I think it's getting old. I'm not sure how long I've been using it but I'm pretty sure it was around Thanksgiving so that's about right.
***Update:
I also went ahead and picked up Maybelline's Full n' Soft mascara. I've heard great things about this and I think I even used it before....back in the day. It really does make my lashes soft, not stiff like other formulas. The volume is nice, but it's natural. This is great for a daytime look. But for nighttime, I'll stick with my Maybelline Falsies:

Lips:
I have a couple different things I use on my lips. Mainly I use chapstick. But otherwise I use gloss or lipstick. I'm not a big lipstick fan, but they're are a couple that I turn to.

Love this stuff! It's only $1 and the color is great. Reminds me of the Stila Lipglaze (which I've never tried, but the tube looks the same). Plus it's not sticky. Score!

Revlon Colorburst Lipstick in Soft Nude
I searched for this color for weeks. It was always sold out! And I can see why. The color is beautiful and it doesn't have that sticky lipstick feel.

I stumbled across this on ebay a few months ago. I really like the color. It's similar to the Revlon but it's a shade or two off. Highly recommend.

I use this on top of mine makeup to set it and it gives a subtle glow. Very subtle.

I got this last year and I love it. Sometimes I use it in place of the Covergirl. It gives a nice peachy glow.

I got this last summer. I don't use it all the time. You can use it to set your makeup but I like to use it as a "refresher" midday. It's especially nice in the summer.

Body:
St. Ives Oatmeal & Shea butter lotion.
I am in love with this stuff! It's great for winter - it's so creamy and moisturizing. Not sticky at all, it dries pretty quickly.
Also, since I don't tan in the winter months, I usually just use a lotion self tanner every other day. My favorite is still the L'Oreal Sublime Bronze Self Tanner for Medium skin tones. I've never had a real problem with streaks as long as I make sure it's all blended. Plus it smells like suntan lotion, which too me, smells great. It makes me think of summer even when it's 12 degrees outside and snowing :)

OK. I think that's it. Wow. It seems like I use a lot of stuff......
What are your favorite products? I'm always on the lookout for something new! Let me know in the comments!

Eyes of the Day, Outfit from last weekend & a Review!

Brrrrrr it's cold outside! I actually broke out my Snuggie today. Yes I do own a Snuggie and No I'm not ashamed of it. Well only about 40%. The one I got was velour so it's super soft and it does really keep me warm. Mine was only $14.99 from Kohl's and you can get yours here and of course you can't  forget about the man in your life!
First up I'm going to show you the outfit I wore to work last Saturday. It was "Elvis Night" - an Elvis impersonator came and he's actually really really good. He puts on a good show and it sells out every year. The crowd gets really into it too which is awesome. We had to wear black and white but since Elvis was going to be there, I decided I needed to show up with a little "bling" so I wore this shirt I bought from Forever21 last year. It's got a bow on the front with a bunch of sparkles on it.
Cardigan: American Eagle (here's the striped version, only available in xxs here) (similar here) (not similar at all but really really cute -and cheap! here)
Shirt: Forever21; I couldn't find anything exactly the same but here's similar (here) (here)
Pants: American Ealge (here)
Shoes: Adidas (similar here)
I thought the outfit turned out well. It was dressy enough but still comfy and easy to move it. And I curled my hair for the first time in forever and it looked really really good! I got a lot of compliments. I might start doing it more often because it takes about the same amount of time as straightening it.

Now onto my eyes of the day. I've been wearing this look a lot lately. I've been a little lazy with my make-up, just going for something quick and simple.

All items used in this look:
Left to right:
Covergirl trublend Mineral powder; Powder brush; Almay intense i-color eyeshadow trio for brown eyes; Covergirl Eyelights mascara for brown eyes; L'Oreal carbon black eyeliner; Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse concealer; Victoria's Secret PRO Lasting FX eyeshadow primer; Revlon Colorstay foundation; Covergirl blush; Maybelline Mousse bronzer

This brings me to my review. I recently purchased the Victoria's Secret eye shadow primer. I've been using the NYX brand for awhile but it really didn't do that well on my lids. The only thing that's really ever worked for me has been the Urban Decay  but I really hate paying almost $20 for it. So I figured I'd try VS's version since it was only $8. Wow. I've been using it for about a week and it's great. It kind of has the same consistency as the UD  and it goes on so smooth and silky. My shadow stay put all day/night with no creasing. There's nothing worse than finding that dark smear across your eyelid when you look into a mirror just wondering how many people noticed this. But this stuff works great. I'm thinking about stocking up, I mean for $8 this is such a steal! Run, don't walk to your nearest Victoria's Secret (or website) and get yours now, but leave some for me, k?
Oh and here's the proof of this awesomeness:
This is after working for 9 hours. No creasing, no smearing. And my shadow is just as sparkly as when I first put it on :)

It seriously took me forever to write this post because I was writing during Jersey Shore (my guiltiest pleasure) commercial breaks.
Now I must be off to eat some leftover pizza and maybe watch a movie before bed. I have 2 Netflix movies waiting for me that I haven't watched yet - Green Zone and The Blind Side (I know, I'm soooo behind with this movie. I'm awful.)

My new favorite lip products

For as long as I can remember I've always been a lip product girl. In junior high and high school I was the girl with every flavor of Bonne Bell lipsmacker in her purse. And everyone always knew to come to me if they were in need of a lipgloss. Well some things never change. Since I've "matured" though, I now only carry one or two flavors of BB in my bag, along with multiple tubes of Chapstick and lipsticks and glosses. I've also never really been much of a lipstick gal. I tend to like a more natural look when it comes to my lips. No bold reds or plums here! I go for light pinks and of course nudes. And even then I usually go for gloss over lipstick. I've never much liked the feel of lipstick, it always felt heavy on my lips and I tend to lick my lips a lot so it wore off quickly. But recently things have changed. I've discovered 2 new lipsticks that I am in love with and I'm tempted to stock up now because I have some sort of fear that they will be discontinued or something.
Here's what I'm talking about:
I've recently become more aware of MAC products and could easily spend a ridiculous amount of money on that website. But the way I go through makeup I just can't justify spending almost $40 on a lipstick and eyeshadow. But I do get all the hype about the lipstick. A few months ago I bought the Viva Glam Gaga lipstick, but I haven't been able to find it anywhere! :( I'm thinking about repurchasing though, along with the Cyndi one also. The money goes to a good cause after all.

On the left: MAC Creme d'Nude. Love this color! It goes on sooo smooth and looks great. It's a nude but it doesn't make your lips completely disappear. And it smells good too, which is always a plus. I got mine on ebay for around $10. A little much for me, but the pay off is totally worth it.
On the right: Revlon Colorburst Lipstick in Soft Nude. Another really great color. Kind of similar to the MAC but the formula feels a little different. I love the packaging, the quilted pattern and the shiny lettering. Perfect. I highly recommend both of these lipsticks. If you can find the MAC one for cheap (or if you don't mind the $14.50 price) I'd go for that one first, but the Revlon is definitely a great alternative.

Two more products - well actually just one.

I spotted these little guys at Walgreen's over a year ago but lately it seems like they've had a lot of buzz around them. I've seen them on a ton of youtube videos lately and decided I finally had to get some for myself. They're so cute and unique there's no way I could pass them up! They were 2/$6 which isn't a bad price. The one on the left is "honeydew melon" - or something like that and the one on the right is "summer fruit". They both smell so good and feel good on your lips. Very moisturizing. They recently came out with a new flavor - lemon. I might try that one, but I'm not too sure about it.

Hope this was helpful for anyone looking for a new lipstick/balm. I would definitely recommend all of these to anyone!

EOTD = Eyes of the Day

Hey everyone! Here's my eye look from yesterday. It's nothing too fancy just a quick neutral eye; perfect for work or just everyday. I used my new elf beautybook and let me tell you, for $5 I am super impressed with the quality of the eyeshadows. They are very pigmented and blend very well. Even the eyeliner seemed to work pretty well. It went on my upper lashline smoothly and blended nicely. It didn't work so well on my waterline though which is no biggie.

please excuse the stray eyebrow hairs....

On my eyes:
NYX Eyeshadow base in skintone
Maybelline Great Lash Big mascara in blackest black
elf Beauty book

The colors I used were middle row third & fourth colum and all of the bottom row. Basically all the brown and beige colors.

On my face:
Coverblend concealer in beige
Smashbox photfinish primer
Revlon Colorstay in Fresh Beige

face continued:
Too Faced Pink Leopard bronzer
Covergirl Trublend Minerals in Medium

A few new things

So I took my weekly trip to Target yesterday. Seriously I go at least once a week. I'm not sure if I've mentioned it before but I am beyond obsessed with Target. It's been going strong ever since I was young, like young young! I remember going there with my mom and getting toys, especially Barbies and stuffed animals. They always had the best. And now my love affair is still going strong, especially since Target has teamed up with big name designers and started getting all classy and such. If they ever went out of business, I would die, just die! I'd probably never buy anything again. Sad day.

I just went in to pick up a few things. Actually I just went in for body wash & hair color. I was a good girl and didn't even look at clothes, shoes, purses. I did however pass through the make-up area. I mean it IS en route to the hair section.....
I was walking innocently past the make-up when something caught my eye on the end cap of an aisle. It was a whole section of e.l.f. cosmetics. I love this brand, well sometimes. They have their hits and misses. The thing I love is that their items are so inexpensive which is great since I buy make-up all the time. If I bought all MAC or something I'd be in the poor house for sure! Luckily the things I picked up today we all hits and I only spent $8 on it all!

Beauty book Smoky Eye Edition - $5. Say what?!?! Yea I know, I did the same thing too. 12 eye shadows, an eyeliner and applicator. The colors are really pretty. They also had one for Neutral Eyes, Colorful Eyes and one just for lips. I really liked the colors in this one. My only complaint is that one of the shadows cracked and it was all over the inside, which you can kind of see in the picture (second row from the top, second shadow from the left) but that's not the company's fault. Overall I'd say this is a worth while purchase - it even has step by step instructions to achieve the look!

Hypershine Lip Gloss (in Bubblegum)
Zit Zapper
Eyelash Curler
All were $1 each
I really like the lipgloss. The color is subtle but very pretty. It smells very sweet which was initially a turn off but once it's on you really can't smell it. It's not sticky either which is a plus.
I tried the zit zapper last night. It seemed to work ok. I wasn't expecting an overnight miracle but I think it did ok for how cheap it was. It's a rollerball and it's got Salicylic Acid, Tea Tree Oil, Witch Hazel and Camphor which all sound good. You can read more about it here
I haven't tried the eyelash curler yet but I'll let you know what I think about it

Ah! Here's what I actually went in for! The scent is Mango something or other. It smells really good!

I also got my hair color but didn't take a picture of it. I just got Natural Instincts in Medium Brown.

I also received this in the mail:

I always used to get this book from the library. I loved looking at all the different make-up looks. It's amazing what you can do with make-up. I suggest everyone get this book or at least borrow it from your local library. I bought mine used from Amazon. You can't even tell it's used and I got a great deal on it!

Recent Purchases; splurge vs steal

So maybe I'm slow in realizing this but I have just bought a pair of shoes very similar to the Seychelles "Get Outta Town" flats. I thought when I purchased them they looked kind of familiar but couldn't quite put my finger on it. It wasn't until I remembered Kim wearing something similar on blog not too long ago. So basically I got these awesome shoes from Kohl's that are actually very close to a more "designer" pair. Cool. I didn't see these on the Kohl's website anymore so try your luck, they might have them in your local store. Apparently I'm not the only one who realized the splurge vs. steal. I believe mine were only $19.99 compared to $80.00. If you don't happen to find these at your local Kohl's there is still another option. 6pm has them for $48 (40% off!)

Here are the Seychelles brand. Crazy huh?

These were also purchased at Kohl's for $18.99. These look semi familiar too, no? I wanna say that maybe Steve Madden did a pair like these? I don't know. If anyone does know please tell me!

I went to Ulta today and picked up a few goodies.
I'm a bridesmaid in a wedding this weekend and wanted a nice lighter nail polish. I saw the mini Essie's and just HAD to get them. And they just so happen to be from the "Wedding Collection"
Perfect.

Left to right:
Petal Pink; Walk Down The Aisle; Show Me The Ring; Main Squeeze

Here are the cute little bottles - too cute for words

NYX was buy one get one 50% off
Golden Dune (left)
Iced Mocha (right)

Mega Shine Lipgloss in "Sweet Heart"
Jumbo Lip Pencil in "Pink Nude"

It was so hot out and I needed a nice cool drink.
One Iced Green Tea coming right up!

Here's a sneak peek at the shoes I'm wearing in the wedding this weekend. They are pretty comfortable and so dainty and pretty. I will be able to definitely wear these again!

I also went to Blockbuster and they were having previously viewed movies 5/$25 or 3/$20
I bought Gran Torino (great movie!!!!), New Moon (I got made fun of by the check out guy for buying this but whatever I had fun with it) and Public Enemies (good movie, kind of long though)

And my best purchase this week:
Nine West "Jenna" bag. I found this on ebay for $34.99. I love it. It's the perfect gray color and has tons of room for everything!
